Calmness - Health - Well-being
Serenity - Balance
Tai Chi originates from ancient China and is part of the Traditional Chinese Medicine, just as acupuncture is. Nowadays, it is practiced throughout the world as an effective exercise for health. Tai Chi consists of fluid, gentle movements that are relaxed and slow in tempo. It can be practiced almost anywhere and is a suitable form of exercise for just about anyone.
There are many different forms or styles of Tai Chi. Some forms, like the 24 Forms or the Traditional Yang Style 103 Forms are mostly practiced for either leisure or competition, and for health in general. Other forms, part of specially designed programs, will have many advantages as they will maximize the potential benefits on health.
Programs offered by the QiShen Institute include warm-up, wind-down and Qigong exercises, special precautions, and sets of Tai Chi movements.
Qigong is especially beneficial for health and mental relaxation. In Chinese, the word "Qigong" is separated into two words. Qi (pronounced "tchee"), the life energy inside a person, circulates throughout the body, performing many functions to maintain good health. Gong (pronounced "kung") is a method of exercise in this context. So Qigong is an exercise which cultivates better and stronger Qi. The stronger Qi you have, the healthier and stronger you are.
The ultimate goal is to use your conscious mind to direct the Qi, use Qi to direct your physical body, thus combining the mind, Qi and body as one co-ordinated entity.
Tai Chi and Qigong, anyone can gain the many health benefits by practicing these ancient Chinese arts.
